The teaser trailer for next year's A Nightmare on Elm Street has just surfaced. Personally, I think the casting of Jackie Earle Haley was genius, especially after his gritty turn in Watchmen. I think he will give a satisfying performance in this remake, but it doesn’t look like director Samuel Bayer is trying to go too far away from the original – a decision that could make or break the movie.

Poor Haley, he's going to get typecast if he keeps playing these psycho roles.

@ Anon: He is definitely an actor with a specialty. I wouldn't necessarily consider it a bad thing like you seem to because he is so good in these "psycho" roles. I do agree that it would be nice to see him do something else because he seems like a very talented actor.

Absolutely. All actors have a type of role they excell in over others. But I really would like to see Haley diversify before his "psycho" roles are the only thing people can remember him for.

@ Anon: I couldn't agree more.

this has so much potential, but it's going to be straight awful.

Most likely. Good horror remakes are rare to say the least and I don't see this one offering anything special other than a potentially good performance by Haley -- depends on the script because he's talented enough to be great in this role.
