@ Rae: I would have to think you're absolutely right! Pretty egotistical, but I thought it was a sweet sign off. I had a bunch to pick from with this film, but I decided to go with the last lines.
Well the most annoying thing about Tarantino for me is that he can't leave his ego behind when he makes a film.
That said, despite my initial chilly reaction to Inglourious Basterds, it has grown on me. I'm pretty sure I'll be among the first in line when it hits blu-ray. :)
@ Rae: Glad to hear you gave the film a shot despite your feelings for the director. I think part of that quote -- besides his ego -- was meant to show that he really believed in this film.
He has said that this movie is the closest thing to Pulp Fiction he has ever done and I think he was trying to get that message across. Perhaps he wants his name to be synonymous with more than just one masterpiece.

Really?! That line annoyed me to no end. Tarantino was literally patting himself on the back as he wrote that line, I'm sure of it.
